Race El Paso

Race El Paso organizes high-quality, safe and fun USAT-sanctioned multisport races in El Paso.  With ideal weather, varied terrain, and thriving cycling, swimming, running, and triathlon communities, El Paso is ready to make its mark in the multisport community!

Race El Paso:

• provides fun and safe multisport events for local athletes and aspiring athletes;
• invites out-of-town athletes to experience El Paso’s cool mornings, mountains and valleys, and cultural gems;
• is committed to developing a culture of health and fitness in El Paso and the borderlands by introducing more people to multisport, identifying training opportunities, and offering great spectator and volunteer support.

Race El Paso is dedicated to incorporating environmentally friendly practices into its races.  We want healthy bodies AND a healthy planet!

In the future, Race El Paso plans to offer a series of annual events, each taking place in a different area.  With that plan, Race El Paso will highlight the rich culture, history and beauty of the region so that every race introduces athletes, volunteers, and spectators to new Borderplex treasures!

Gabriela A. Gallegos, Race Director

Gabriela competed in her first triathlon in 2005 and has been hooked ever since!  She returned to her hometown of El Paso in 2008 and quickly found avid cycling and triathlon communities.  Frustrated to learn that El Paso triathletes had to travel to other cities to compete, she decided to plan an event in El Paso.  Now a Certified USA Triathlon Race Director, Gabriela is working with a fantastic team to produce Eagle in the Sun Triathlon 2010.

The race committee is comprised of a diverse group of motivated volunteers.  We are triathletes, marathoners, and aspiring and actual health nuts.  A couple of us even dread exercise!  We are El Paso natives, and we are transplants.  We are all professionals of one sort or another, and we share a vision for a healthy and race-friendly El Paso.
